DO NOT go to the scene of an active threat. Sounds reasonable, unless you have a loved one already at the scene.Â
3 reasons you MUST resist the urge to go to the scene are:
Every person that responds to the scene is one more person that first responders must deal with, taking away from their primary objective. You will NEVER be reunited with a loved one at the actual scene of a mass threat. Await instructions on where the reunification point will be. Then go there.
For every vehicle that responds to the scene of an active threat that is one more vehicle that first responders must get by to get to the scene. You are creating a traffic jam. This is true when leaving the scene of an active threat. DO NOT go to your vehicle.
Active threat situations may include secondary attacks or devices designed to injure first responders or bystanders. Always stay clear from active threat scenes. Â
